Return & Refund Policy

This Return & Refund Policy governs the return, refund, and exchange procedures for purchases made from Little Pet Company through our online store or in-store location. By completing a purchase, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

Little Pet Company strives to ensure customer satisfaction and the well-being of pets. If an issue arises with a purchase, our team will work with you to determine an appropriate resolution in accordance with the terms set out below.


Return & Refund Policy – Quick Summary

Returns
• Most products may be returned within 60 days with proof of purchase.

Food Satisfaction Guarantee
• Opened or unopened food products may be eligible for refund or exchange within 60 days if your pet does not accept the product.

Damaged or Defective Items
• Must be reported within 10 days of receiving the item.

Livestock Health Guarantee
• All livestock are covered by a 14-day health guarantee.

Aquatic Livestock Claims
• The deceased aquatic animal must be returned and a separate aquarium water sample must be provided.

Invertebrates
• Marine hermit crabs and marine snails are sold without warranty.

Livestock Transport
• Customers are responsible for transporting animals home safely and acclimating them promptly.


1. Return Window

Eligible products may be returned within sixty (60) days from:

• The delivery date for online orders
• The purchase date for in-store transactions

Unless otherwise stated in this policy (such as the Food Satisfaction Guarantee), items should be unused and in resellable condition where possible.

Proof of purchase is required for all returns.

Little Pet Company reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet these conditions.


2. Return Eligibility

To qualify for a return:

• The item should be in resellable condition where possible
• Original packaging and accessories should be included when applicable
• Proof of purchase must be provided

Returns that do not meet these requirements may be declined at the discretion of Little Pet Company.

Little Pet Company reserves the right to approve, deny, or limit returns where products show signs of excessive use, damage, or misuse.


3. Non-Returnable Items

For health, safety, and hygiene reasons, the following items are not eligible for return:

• Clearance or final sale items (when marked as such at the time of purchase)
• Certain live animals or livestock, except where covered under the livestock guarantees outlined in this policy


4. Food Satisfaction Guarantee

If a pet does not accept a food product, opened or unopened food items may be eligible for refund or exchange within sixty (60) days of purchase.

Conditions include:

• Proof of purchase is required
• The product must be lightly used
• The item should be returned in original packaging where possible

Little Pet Company reserves the right to limit or decline food returns where misuse or abuse of this policy is suspected.

Returns may also be limited for customers demonstrating a pattern of excessive returns.


5. Return Process

To initiate a return, please contact:

Include the following information:

• Order number
• Reason for return
• Photographs (if applicable)

Returns for online orders require prior approval before being shipped back.

Where applicable, in-store purchases may be returned directly in store with proof of purchase.


6. Return Shipping Costs

If a return is the result of an error by Little Pet Company (such as an incorrect, defective, or damaged item), reasonable return shipping costs will be covered by the company.

For other approved returns, return shipping costs may apply depending on the reason for the return.

Original shipping charges are non-refundable, except where the return is due to an error on our part.

Customers are encouraged to use a trackable shipping method, as Little Pet Company is not responsible for lost or undelivered return shipments.


7. Refunds

Once a returned item is received and inspected, customers will be notified whether the refund request has been approved or declined.

If approved:

• Refunds will normally be issued to the original method of payment
• Processing times may vary depending on the customer’s financial institution

Little Pet Company reserves the right to issue store credit instead of a refund where appropriate, including discretionary situations or where packaging damage has occurred.


8. Exchanges

Exchanges are available for eligible products.

Customers may choose one of the following options:

Standard Exchange

The original item must be returned and inspected before the replacement item is issued.

Immediate Exchange

Customers may place a new order for the desired item. Once the returned item is received and approved, a refund will be issued for the original purchase.

All exchanged items must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in Section 2.


9. Damaged or Defective Items

If an item arrives damaged or defective, customers must notify Little Pet Company within ten (10) days of receiving the item.

To submit a claim, email:

Include:

• Order number
• Description of the issue
• Clear photographs of the product and packaging

After review, eligible claims may result in a replacement, refund, or store credit, depending on product availability and the nature of the issue.

Failure to report damage within the 10-day reporting period may result in denial of the claim.


10. Live Animals & Livestock

Live animals are sensitive to environmental conditions, habitat setup, diet, handling, and acclimation practices that are outside the control of Little Pet Company.

Once an animal leaves the store, transportation, housing, acclimation, and ongoing care become the responsibility of the purchaser. Customers must ensure that appropriate enclosures, environmental conditions, diet, and care requirements are provided for the species purchased.

Customers are responsible for transporting animals directly home and acclimating them promptly after purchase.

Little Pet Company is not responsible for livestock exposed to:

• Extreme temperatures
• Improper transport conditions
• Delays in acclimation after leaving the store

Animals should not be left unattended in vehicles or environments that may cause temperature stress.

Failure to transport livestock appropriately may void the livestock health guarantee.


11. Livestock Health Guarantee

Unless otherwise stated in this policy, all livestock purchased from Little Pet Company are covered by a fourteen (14) day health guarantee from the date of purchase.

If a livestock animal dies within this period, customers may be eligible for replacement, store credit, or refund, provided that:

• Proof of purchase is provided
• The issue is reported within the 14-day guarantee period
• Any requested documentation or information is provided

Little Pet Company reserves the right to determine whether replacement, store credit, or refund will be issued based on the circumstances of the claim and livestock availability.

Additional claim requirements may apply to aquatic livestock, as outlined below.


12. Aquatic Livestock Guarantee Terms

Freshwater and marine aquatic livestock may be eligible for the 14-day livestock health guarantee, provided the following conditions are met:

• Proof of purchase is provided
• The issue is reported within the 14-day guarantee period
• The deceased aquatic livestock is returned to the store
• A separate water sample from the aquarium is provided at the time of claim

Little Pet Company may test the water sample to evaluate aquarium conditions, including:

• Ammonia
• Nitrite
• Nitrate
• Salinity
• Other relevant water parameters

Approval of aquatic livestock claims is dependent on acceptable water quality and appropriate aquarium conditions.

Little Pet Company reserves the right to determine whether replacement, store credit, or refund will be issued based on the results of water testing and the circumstances of the claim.


13. Invertebrate Warranty Exclusion

Due to the sensitive nature of marine invertebrates, Marine Hermit Crabs and Marine Snails are sold without warranty and are not eligible for refund, replacement, or credit.


14. Shipping Locations

Little Pet Company currently ships to addresses within Canada only. International shipping and returns are not available.
